The Omron HJ113 tracks your workouts with steps, distance, time, and
the number of calories you burn during walking. The Omron HJ113 has a
dual display function that can show both the time and the number of
steps simultaneously. Its memory function can store and show the data
of seven days.
Besides a regular step counter, the Omron HJ113 also features
an aerobic step counter, which counts the number of steady steps.
Steady or aerobic steps are the physical exercise that help us stay
healthy. Steady steps are counted separately when walking more then 10
minutes successively. If a rest of less than 1 minute is taken after a
continuous walk of more than 10 minutes, this will be regarded as part
of continuous (or aerobic or steady) walk.
Current recommendations (British Heart foundation) are that
every individual should be walking 10,000 steps a day to maintain an
acceptable level of health and fitness, evidence suggests that most of
us take between 3,000 and 4,000 steps per day. Walking is ideal for
combating a sedentary lifestyle according to the British Heart
Foundation who suggests that 37 per cent of coronary heart disease
deaths are directly related to insufficient physical activity.
